## Synopsis

77 Sunset Strip (1958-1964) is a American crime drama series created by Roy Huggins for ABC. Stu Bailey (Efrem Zimbalist Jr.) and Jeff Spencer (Roger Smith) are the wisecracking, womanizing private detectives at the center of this Warner Brothers production, running their agency from an office at 77 Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Their world brightens and complicates when the finger-snapping, slang-talking valet Kookie (Edd Byrnes), who works next door at a snazzy restaurant, starts helping with cases and eventually joins the firm as a full member. Rex Randolph, J.R. Hale and the leggy secretary Suzanne (Jacqueline Beer) round out the office. Across six seasons and more than two hundred hour-long episodes, the engine is a steady run of self-contained cases in which the partners chase clients, suspects and hidden motives through nightclubs, mansions and back alleys. The mood is breezy, glamorous and cool, with banter and style carrying the tension. Fans of Peter Gunn, Richard Diamond, Private Detective and Hawaiian Eye will find the same postwar private eye appeal.
