## Synopsis

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a Japanese anime series produced by Trigger for Netflix, based on the CD Projekt Red video game universe. Set in the corrupt, implant-saturated Night City, a talented but reckless street kid named David Martinez struggles to survive among gangs and corporate predators while dreaming of becoming an edgerunner, a mercenary outlaw. He is pulled through a city where every upgrade costs something, and his closest bonds are tested by the dangers of the streets. The engine of the series is simple and bruising: a young crew takes contract jobs, chases money and status, and pays steep prices for each chrome enhancement. Episodes are built around heists, street fights and gang violence, with a sharp eye for how capitalism grinds down the poor. The tone is gritty, melancholic and kinetic, with hard-edged action and a sense of inevitable loss. Fans of Cowboy Bebop and cyberpunk fiction will find resonance in its neon-lit urban dread and anti-hero energy. The story forms one continuing arc set in a near-future American city, with its emotional weight carried by friendship, ambition and the cost of survival.
