## Synopsis

Candy (2022) is a American limited series created by Robin Veith and Nick Antosca for Hulu, a five-episode true crime dramatization built on a real 1980s Texas case. Jessica Biel plays Candy Montgomery, a suburban housewife and mother whose tidy life begins to fray under the pressure of conformity and a secret affair. Melanie Lynskey plays neighbor Betty Gore, whose domestic world becomes entangled with Candy's, while Pablo Schreiber plays Allan Gore and Timothy Simons plays Pat Montgomery, the husbands whose lives are pulled into the fallout. The engine of the story is Candy's quiet, mounting restlessness and the violent moment that reshapes every relationship around her, followed by the intense scrutiny of a small town and a courtroom. Each episode moves steadily through domestic détente, rumor, and legal maneuvering, grounding the story in ordinary kitchens, church pews, and tense conversations. Set in a 1980s Texas town, the series has a bleak, unsettling tone, with a sharp eye on gender, judgment, and the cost of keeping up appearances. Fans of Mare of Easttown, The Staircase, and Big Little Lies will find resonance in its true crime grounding and suburban unease.
