## Synopsis

Woke (2020-2022) is an American satirical comedy created by Keith Knight and Marshall Todd for Hulu, running two seasons and sixteen half-hour episodes before its cancellation. Lamorne Morris plays Keef, an African American cartoonist whose career is finally poised for mainstream success when an unexpected incident upends his plans. Around him, T. Murph appears as Clovis, Blake Anderson as Gunther, and Sasheer Zamata as Ayana, while JB Smoove voices the animated Marker. Each episode follows Keef as he tries to keep his newfound standing intact while confronting the younger activists, friends, and opinions that push back against his work and his choices. The engine of the show is the tension between ambition and conscience: every drawing and public remark risks a new fallout, and the comedy comes from the awkward compromises he makes to protect what he has built. Its tone is biting and confrontational, with black humor used to skewer both the institutions that exploit racial issues and the protagonist's own blind spots. The episodes move briskly, mixing live action with animated segments that reflect Keef's art. Fans of Atlanta, Dear White People and Bojack Horseman will find a similar mix of sharp social commentary, uncomfortable humor and a flawed creative lead at its center.
