## Synopsis

The Living Planet (1984) is a British natural history documentary miniseries created for BBC One, fronted on screen by naturalist David Attenborough. Across twelve roughly fifty-five minute episodes, Attenborough acts as the sole presenter and guide, walking viewers through the many ways animals and plants adapt to the surroundings they inhabit. The engine of each episode is curiosity about survival: how a creature or plant meets the demands of its habitat, and what that reveals about the wider web of life. Rather than following characters through a plot, the series builds a portrait of the planet one habitat and one adaptation at a time, so each episode stands on its own while the whole adds up to a sweeping overview. The register is calm, warm and awe-filled, with patient observation of wild landscapes and creatures that rewards attentive viewing. Its single season of twelve episodes gives it the scale of a complete survey rather than an ongoing saga. Fans of The Blue Planet, Planet Earth and The Life of Mammals will find the same wonder at the natural world, the same authoritative narration, and the same careful attention to how life endures in every corner of the Earth.
