## Synopsis

Debris (2021) is an American science fiction drama created by J. H. Wyman for NBC. Across a single season of thirteen hour-long episodes, federal agents Bryan Beneventi (Jonathan Tucker) and Finola Jones (Riann Steele) are paired despite working from opposite continents and opposite instincts. Their engine is an investigation into wreckage from a destroyed alien spacecraft, whose fragments produce mysterious effects on the people who come into contact with them. Each episode follows a new strand of the case, with black market dealers, shadowy officials and unexplained phenomena forcing the partners to trust one another while their methods clash. Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) and Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip) round out a cast of principal players involved in the wider cover-up. The tone is tense and paranoid, with a brooding, conspiratorial atmosphere and a steady undercurrent of dread about what the debris is doing to humanity. Fans of The X-Files and Fringe will find resonance in its blend of government secrecy, alien mythology and an odd-couple partnership. The series was canceled before its central mystery could be resolved, so the season ends with its questions largely open.
