## Synopsis

Julie and the Phantoms (2020) is an American teen musical fantasy series created by Dan Cross and David Hoge for Netflix. High school student Julie Molina (Madison Reyes) finds her passion for music and her own life as she helps a trio of ghostly musicians, Luke Patterson (Charlie Gillespie), Reggie Peters (Jeremy Shada) and Alex Mercer (Owen Patrick Joyner), become the band they were never able to be in life. Julie's friend Nick (Sacha Carlson) and her wider circle of schoolmates keep her grounded as the group rehearses, performs and tries to get their music heard. The engine of each episode is the push to get the Phantoms onstage, balanced against the everyday pressures of school, friendship and first love. The nine-episode single season is one continuing story with a bright pop soundtrack and performance set pieces. Set in a present-day American town, the series is warm, heartfelt and upbeat, with a gentle sense of longing for the dead and the living alike. Fans of High School Musical, Glee and Zombies will find resonance in its mix of teen romance, pop songs and feel good supernatural fun. The series was canceled after its first season, leaving the story unfinished.
