## Synopsis

Paper Girls (2022) is an American science fiction series created by Stephany Folsom for Prime Video, a single-season limited adaptation of the comic book by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang. Four teenage paperboys, including Erin Tieng (Riley Lai Nelet), Tiffany Quilkin (Camryn Jones), Mackenzie Coyle (Sofia Rosinsky) and KJ Brandman (Fina Strazza), are thrown out of the dawn of November 1988 in their small town and into 2019 after stumbling into an intergalactic battle. Their engine is simple and urgent: they want to get back to their own time while protecting the future they have wandered into, and every episode pushes them through a new danger, a new ally and a new revelation about who they are becoming. Each girl meets her own adult self, and those encounters turn the group's friendship into a test of nerve and honesty. The eight episodes form one continuing story rather than standalone adventures. The series is set in 1980s suburban America and in a 2019 that is contemporary to its broadcast. Its tone blends wistful nostalgia with propulsive, tense adventure, and its mood is both playful and anxious. Fans of Stranger Things, Dark and Super 8 will find resonance in its blend of childhood wonder, time travel mystery and sci-fi peril.
