## Synopsis

The Afterparty (2022-2023) is an American comedic murder mystery series created by Christopher Miller for Apple TV. Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) leads the investigation into a killing at a after-party, questioning a rotating cast of suspects played by Sam Richardson as Aniq, Zoë Chao as Zoe, and Ben Schwartz as Yasper. Each episode centers on one suspect's account, and every account is staged in a different film genre, so a romance, a heist, a musical number or a noir can each reshape the same night. The engine is the clash between the detective's dogged method and the suspects' elaborate self-interest, with every witness hiding something and every alibi shifting under questioning. Across two seasons of eighteen episodes the format stays a self-contained whodunit with a serialized frame, and the tone is breezy, irreverent and knowingly silly. Fans of Knives Out, Only Murders in the Building and Psych will find resonance in its playful ensemble and its affection for genre pastiche. The series was canceled after its second season, so its central mystery stays open.
