## Synopsis

Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway (2021) is a Japanese seinen slice of life anime series produced by project No.9 and broadcast on AT-X. Twenty-six-year-old salaryman Yoshida (voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu) is nursing a rejection from his crush when he finds a high school runaway, Sayu Ogiwara (voiced by Kana Ichinose), sitting by the road and lets her stay the night. The engine of the show is the awkward, cautious daily negotiation of two people who have no obvious reason to share a home: meals, chores, unspoken boundaries, and the question of what they owe each other. Each of the thirteen episodes of this single-season series is built from small, grounded domestic moments rather than a plot-driven arc, with supporting figures such as Airi Gotō (Hisako Kanemoto) and Yuzuha Mishima (Kaori Ishihara) widening the orbit of Yoshida's lonely urban life. The tone is irritable, wistful and slightly heartwarming, with a melancholic undertow about adult loneliness in contemporary Tokyo. Fans of Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou will find resonance in its gentle, character-first intimacy.
