## Synopsis

Selena + Chef (2020-2022) is an American reality cooking series created by Selena Gomez and broadcast on HBO Max. Gomez cooks from her own kitchen during the period of social distancing, and each episode she is joined remotely by a different master chef who talks her through a dish. The engine of the show is simple: a pop star with uncertain culinary skill tries to produce a meal that impresses her guests while the chefs offer patient, encouraging, sometimes teasing advice over video. Each episode is built around one recipe, its ingredients, and the small kitchen mishaps that follow, and the four seasons, running across thirty-nine short episodes, keep the same warm, playful format throughout. The setting is a home kitchen in Los Angeles during the pandemic era, giving the show a cozy, intimate feel. Its tone is breezy, joyful, and self-deprecating, with a summery lightness that suits casual viewing. Fans of The Great British Baking Show, Chef's Table, and Queer Eye will find a similar blend of gentle expertise and easygoing charm.
