## Synopsis

Only Murders in the Building (2021-present) is an American comedic mystery series created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman for Hulu. Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), an aging actor, Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), a fading Broadway director, and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), a young woman who lives downstairs, share an obsession with true crime. When a death shakes their Upper West Side apartment building in New York City, the three strangers begin hosting a podcast and digging into the case themselves, colliding with building residents, police, and their own rivalries. The engine of each season is a new mystery that they investigate in the middle of their own messy lives, with clues, suspects, and comic misunderstandings piling up episode by episode. Amy Ryan and Michael Cyril Creighton add principal texture as neighbors who complicate the sleuthing. Its tone is breezy and witty, with warm friendship, theatrical banter, and a wistful sense of second-act reinvention. The show is a light serialized puzzle with running threads that unfold across ongoing seasons. Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Psych, and Murder, She Wrote will find resonance in its cozy, case-driven comedy and playful detective energy.
