## Synopsis

Bel-Air (2022-2025) is a United States Peacock drama series created by Andy Borowitz and Susan Borowitz, a dramatic reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Jabari Banks plays Will Smith, a book smart teen who leaves the streets of West Philadelphia to live with his relatives in one of Los Angeles' wealthiest suburbs. Adrian Holmes plays Phillip Banks, the stern patriarch, and Cassandra Freeman plays Vivian Banks, his wife, while Olly Sholotan plays Carlton Banks and Coco Jones plays Hilary Banks. The engine of the show is Will's struggle to fit into a household of privilege and rivalry, as each episode layers family conflicts, school pressures and class tensions onto a glossy mansion life. The series runs four seasons and thirty-eight episodes in a serialized, melodramatic format. Set in contemporary Los Angeles, it has a glossy, heightened register that mixes soapy drama with the warmth of its source. Its tones lean dramatic and sincere, with a strong focus on family loyalty and identity. Fans of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Gossip Girl and Elite will find resonance in its class clash and teen melodrama.
