## Synopsis

Mandy (2020-present) is a British comedy series created by Diane Morgan for BBC Two. Diane Morgan plays Mandy's nan in a sitcom built around a woman with grand ambitions who keeps stumbling through ordinary life. Her big dream of breeding Doberman Pinchers is always pushed aside by practical obstacles: a half-hearted health kick, renting out her small back bedroom on Airbnb, and a string of short-lived jobs in the modern gig economy. Michelle Greenidge appears as Lola, one of the principal figures around her, and the cast includes Natalie Cassidy, Anna Maxwell Martin and Alexei Sayle in guest roles. The show runs across four seasons of six episodes each, with short fourteen-minute episodes that move briskly and stay continuous across the run. Its humour is deadpan and cringe-prone, with a warm undercurrent of sympathy for characters who never quite get the breaks they want. Fans of Motherland, Catastrophe and Fleabag will find resonance in its wry, character-led British comedy and its portrait of modern precarity handled with a light touch.
