## Synopsis

Aashram (2020-present) is an Indian Hindi-language crime drama series created by Prakash Jha for MX Player. Bobby Deol plays Baba Nirala, a charismatic godman whose ashram presents itself as a place of good deeds while concealing rapes, murders, drug trafficking and manipulation of political vote banks. Chandan Roy Sanyal plays Bhopa Swami, a figure caught in the ashram's machinery, while Darshan Kumaar plays Inspector Ujagar Singh, one of the officers pressing the case against the guru. Tridha Choudhury, Aaditi Pohankar and Anupriya Goenka appear among the principal cast. The engine of the series is a slow, grinding pursuit: investigators and a few crusaders gather fragments of evidence while the godman's network of loyal followers, bribed officials and political patrons closes ranks around him. The show unfolds across three seasons and thirty-three episodes, with each season deepening the rot inside the compound and the cost to those who speak out. Its mood is dark, tense and morally corrosive, closer to a gritty procedural than a spiritual drama. Fans of Sacred Games and the cult-leader documentary Wild Wild Country will find resonance in its portrait of charisma, faith and institutional complicity.
