## Synopsis

UFOs (2021-2022) is a French scripted science fiction comedy series created by Clémence Dargent, Martin Douaire, Raphaëlle Richet, Julien Anscutter, Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat and Marie Eynard for Canal+. Melvil Poupaud plays Didier Mathure, a brilliant space engineer whose rocket explodes on take-off and who is transferred to GEPAN, a French state unit that handles UFO sightings. Daphné Patakia plays Véra, and Michel Vuillermoz plays Marcel, both part of the unit's staff, while Géraldine Pailhas plays Élise and Quentin Dolmaire plays Rémy. Didier is a die-hard rationalist ordered to produce scientific explanations for sightings that dominate the headlines, and his engine is a relentless scheme to escape the posting while the office keeps generating new absurd cases. The show unfolds across two seasons of twelve half-hour episodes each, structured as a serialized workplace comedy with a continuing storyline. Its setting is contemporary France, with office corridors and bureaucratic meetings giving way to unexplained skies. The tone is dry, deadpan and wry, with a sincere undercurrent about belief and doubt. Fans of The X-Files, Yes Minister and Twin Peaks will find resonance in its blend of skepticism, official absurdity and quiet paranoia. The series was canceled after its second season.
