## Synopsis

Rayito de luz (2000-2001) is a Mexican children's telenovela created by Socorro González, Alejandro Aragón and Oscar Morales for Las Estrellas, produced by Televisa. Alejandro Speitzer plays Juan de Luz, the abandoned boy known as Rayito for his cheerful spirit, who is found and raised by a group of monks in a small village. Alan plays Hermano Abel Ventura and Francisco Rossell plays Hermano Fidel Rulfo, the brothers who guide and protect him, while Danna Paola Rivera plays Lupita Lerma and Mariana Levy plays Francisca Buenrostro, whose lives intersect with his. The engine of the story is Rayito's quiet dream of one day meeting his mother, and the everyday obstacles of a rural community that tests kindness, faith and loyalty. The series runs as a single complete season of twenty episodes, each built from village incidents, small sorrows and gentle reversals. Its tone is sincere, tender and uplifting, a wholesome melodrama in the tradition of the telenovela and of classic orphan tales. Fans of Marcelino pan y vino and Heidi will find resonance in its innocence, warmth and emotional sincerity. Set in a contemporary-feeling Mexican village around the turn of the millennium, it suits family viewing and comforting, heartfelt evenings.
