## Synopsis

Little Bear (1995-2001) is a Canadian animated children's series created by Else Holmelund Minarik, Maurice Sendak and Bob Boyle for Nickelodeon. Adapted from Else Holmelund Minarik's beloved picture books, it follows a young bear voiced by Kristin Fairlie as he wanders the forest with his friends Emily (Jennifer Martini), Duck (Tracy Ryan), Hen (Elizabeth Hanna), Cat (Andrew Sabiston) and Owl (Amos Crawley). Each short episode of roughly eight minutes centers on a small, concrete trouble, such as a lost object, a harmless mishap or a new skill to master, and the friends work through it together. Mother Bear (Janet-Laine Green) is a constant source of comfort at home, while Father Bear (Dan Hennessey), a fisherman often away at sea, appears as a warm presence in the family's life. Across five seasons and 195 episodes, the show stays episodic and gentle, with soft pastel-toned animation, a calm pace and an unhurried sense of wonder. Its tone is cozy, sincere and nostalgic, a preschool classic in the vein of Winnie the Pooh and Franklin for families with young children.
