## Synopsis

George & Tammy (2022-2023) is an American limited series created by Abe Sylvia for Showtime, a six-episode music biopic drama. Jessica Chastain plays country singer Tammy Wynette and Michael Shannon plays her volatile husband George Jones, whose stormy relationship drives the story. Steve Zahn appears as manager George Richey, and David Wilson Barnes as producer Billy Sherrill, with Walton Goggins as Earl Montgomery in the supporting cast. Each fifty-minute episode moves through studio sessions, tour buses, bar stages and fractured domestic scenes as the couple's rise to country royalty collides with addiction, infidelity and public scrutiny. Set across the Nashville music industry of the 1960s and 1970s, the series is adapted from a novel and carries a melancholic, raw and emotionally intense tone. Its portrait of a love that keeps pulling its two performers back together resonates with fans of Walk the Line and Ray, and viewers drawn to troubled artist dramas will find it an absorbing, grounded watch. The performances carry much of the weight, with Chastain and Shannon anchoring a story about music, devotion and self destruction.
