## Synopsis

Imperio De Mentiras (2020-2021) is a Mexican telenovela created by Giselle González for Las Estrellas, a single-season run of ninety-two episodes. Elisa Cantú (Angelique Boyer) returns to Mexico from New York and finds her life upended on the night of her birthday, when a police call reveals two bodies: the fiancée of policeman Leonardo Velasco (Andrés Palacios), a teacher named Julia, and Elisa's father, millionaire businessman Augusto Cantú. Elisa and Leonardo, each grieving and suspicious, join forces to search for the truth, and the engine of the story is the slow unraveling of a wealthy family's secrets against the obstacles of pride, class and loyalty. Each episode layers romantic tension, rival households and courtroom-style confrontations onto the investigation, with the emotional register swinging between melancholy, passion and suspense. Set in contemporary Mexico, the series is a long-form soap built for viewers who enjoy sweeping melodrama and a love story forged in mourning. Fans of La Madrastra, Corazón Salvaje and Te Sigo Amando will find resonance in its heightened emotion and dynasty-style conflict.
