## Synopsis

The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020) is an American gothic horror miniseries created by Mike Flanagan for Netflix. Victoria Pedretti plays Dani Clayton, a young American nanny hired by Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew, Flora and Miles, at a remote English estate. Alongside the estate's chef Owen Sharma (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper Hannah Grose (T'Nia Miller), she slowly realizes that the manor's past is not settled. Oliver Jackson-Cohen appears as Peter Quint, a figure whose history with the house reaches into the present. The nine-episode season is built from lingering, lyrical monologues and memory-driven episodes that move between past and present, so each hour deepens the mystery rather than racing toward a jump scare. The atmosphere is melancholic and eerie, with a softness toward heartbreak, and the show leans on candlelit corridors, fog-wrapped grounds and quiet grief. Fans of The Haunting of Hill House, Crimson Peak and The Turn of the Screw will find resonance in its patient dread and its tender treatment of loss.
