## Synopsis

Estonia - The Discovery That Changed History (2020-2022) is a Scandinavian true events documentary docuseries created by Henrik Evertsson and broadcast on Discovery+ and Dplay. Across seven roughly fifty-minute episodes in two seasons, the series follows survivors and relatives of the victims of the 1994 sinking of the ferry Estonia on its crossing from Tallinn to Stockholm. Rather than relying on spectacle, it is built on testimony: survivors such as Rolf Sörman and Mikael Öun recount the cold water, the chaos aboard, and the long wait for news, while relatives including Jutta Rabe and Lars Borgnäs press the question that has lingered for more than two decades, what truly happened to the ship. Each episode works through interviews, records, and reconstructed evidence, moving steadily toward the unanswered core of the disaster. The mood is sober, mournful, and investigative, with a restrained emotional register that suits viewers drawn to maritime history, true crime, and national tragedies. Fans of Blackfish, The Vow, and Chernobyl will find a similar pull toward real suffering and institutional silence. The series remains a deliberately open inquiry into a catastrophe that still shapes Baltic memory.
