## Synopsis

The Sea Beyond (2020-present) is an Italian national-television serialized crime drama created by Cristiana Farina for Rai 2 and RaiPlay. Set in Naples, a city still shaped by organized crime, the story unfolds inside a juvenile detention centre where young inmates are taken away from their families and friends. Carolina Crescentini plays Paola Vinci, a figure at the center of the institution's daily life, while Nicolas Maupas plays Filippo, one of the young inmates whose world has been abruptly interrupted. Carmine Recano, Massimiliano Caiazzo, Valentina Romani, and Artem Tkachuk round out a large ensemble of confined teenagers and staff. The engine of the series is simple and emotionally raw: each inmate wants to reclaim a sense of self, while rivalries, loyalties, and the pull of the criminal world outside the walls push back. Episodes are built from confrontations, fragile friendships, and small acts of defiance and tenderness. The show runs across six seasons and is told as one continuing story where character arcs carry forward. Its tone is gritty, tense and often tender, balancing harsh realism with moments of hope and self-discovery. Fans of Gomorrah and Skins will find resonance in its blend of youth, crime, and emotionally charged institutional drama.
