## Synopsis

Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal (1996-2000) is a Canadian science fiction paranormal investigation series created by Christopher Chacon and Peter Aykroyd and distributed through first-run syndication. A scientific research team led by Professor Anton Hendricks (Colin Fox) and Matt Prager (Matt Frewer) travels the world chasing unexplained events, from alien abductions to demonic possessions, with Dr. Claire Davison (Soo Garay) working the analytical side of each case. Dan Aykroyd appears as the on-screen host who introduces the cases and frames them as real-world investigations. The engine of each episode is a new anomaly that the team must examine, test, and explain or fail to explain, and the four-season run across 88 episodes is built around that weekly structure rather than one continuing storyline. Set in the late twentieth century but filmed largely around Toronto, the show carries a curious, earnest, pseudo-documentary tone, with a mix of scientific procedure and eerie speculation. Its overall register sits somewhere between a 1990s genre procedural and a late night documentary series. Fans of The X-Files, Sightings and Fringe will find resonance in its blend of investigation and the uncanny.
