## Synopsis

Like In The Movies (Gaya sa Pelikula, 2020) is a Philippine web romance series created by Juan Miguel Severo and released on YouTube. Across eight half-hour episodes, it follows Karl (Paolo Pangilinan), a nineteen year old architecture student wrestling with an identity crisis, and Vlad (Ian Pangilinan), a schoolmate on the run from his own family. Fate places the two as housemates over the semestral break, and the story's engine is the slow, awkward process of two young men who arrive with guarded lives learning what they mean to one another and what they want for themselves. Each episode is built from small domestic moments, shared meals, tentative conversations and the pressures of family and friends who hover at the edges, including Karl's parents and classmates such as Judit (Adrienne Vergara) and Anna (Yesh Anne Burce). The mood is gentle, sincere and hopeful, with a wistful, intimate register that favors quiet glances over melodrama. Viewers who enjoy Heartstopper, Love, Victor and other queer coming of age romances will find a similar tenderness here. It is a compact, self contained story told in one continuous arc, suited to a single sitting and to anyone drawn to romance that takes its time.
