## Synopsis

Dead Mountain: The Dyatlov Pass Incident (2020) is a Russian miniseries created by Ilya Kulikov for TNT and Premier. Set in 1959 Soviet Russia, it follows KGB major Igor Dyatlov (Ivan Mulin), a WWII veteran whose troubled past is joined by an unsettling sixth sense. Assigned to probe the deaths of nine student hikers in the Ural Mountains, he is drawn deeper into the frozen wilderness as the evidence grows stranger and more dangerous. Working alongside investigators Oleg Kostin (Pyotr Fyodorov) and Semyon Zolotaryov (Egor Beroev), he confronts a bureaucratic machine that prefers silence to answers. The engine of the story is the slow accumulation of clues and the pressure to close the case quietly. Across eight episodes of roughly fifty-five minutes each, the series is one continuing, tightly plotted limited series. Its tone is bleak, paranoid and atmospheric, with snow-bound dread and a sense that the truth is being actively buried. Fans of Chernobyl, Child 44 and Fortitude will find resonance in its cold war textures, isolated landscapes and institutional cover-ups.
