## Synopsis

Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020) is an Indian prestige crime drama miniseries created by Hansal Mehta. Pratik Gandhi plays stockbroker Harshad Mehta, an ambitious outsider who single-handedly drives the Bombay stock market to dizzying heights, while Shreya Dhanwanthary plays journalist Sucheta Dalal, who uncovers the machinery behind his dealings. Hemant Kher and Chirag Vohra appear among the principal figures orbiting his brokerage world. The engine of the story is a man hungry for ever larger gains, navigating banks, loopholes, and political pressure, while the people around him must decide how far to go in helping or exposing him. Each episode builds the tension of a bubble that grows larger and more fragile. Told as a single continuous ten-episode arc, it is a limited series set in 1980s and 1990s Bombay, with the rhythms of a financial thriller and the texture of a period drama. Its tone is brisk, tense, and morally complicated, combining wit with a mounting sense of dread. Themes of ambition, greed, and institutional corruption run throughout. Fans of The Wolf of Wall Street, Narcos, and Chernobyl will find resonance in its true story sweep and its portrait of a charismatic man undone by his own excess.
