## Synopsis

The Liberator (2020) is a Netflix adult animated war miniseries created by Jeb Stuart, with a single four-episode season of roughly fifty minutes each. Following a diverse, dedicated, rough-and-tumble squad of soldiers, it centers on Felix Sparks (voiced by Bradley James), with Sergeant Samuel Coldfoot (Martin Sensmeier) and Corporal Able Gomez (Jose Miguel Vasquez) among the principal soldiers, and Mike Rowe serving as narrator. The engine of the story is the grinding daily work of the front line: the squad must advance, hold ground, and keep its members alive while the Allied invasion of Italy grinds forward during World War II. Each episode is built from concrete combat missions, quiet moments in camp, and the bonds that hold soldiers together under fire. The tone is gritty and unsentimental, with a sincere, earnest register and moments of harrowing violence rendered in animation. Set in 1940s Italy, the series traces the ordinary men who carried the campaign. Fans of Band of Brothers and Waltz with Bashir will find resonance in its grounded war realism and its adult animated approach to memory and combat.
