## Synopsis

First Kill is a US Netflix supernatural drama created by V. E. Schwab, a single-season series of eight hour-long episodes that was canceled after its first run. Teenagers Juliette Fairmont (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Calliope Burns (Imani Lewis) sit on opposite sides of a vampire divide, one a vampire and the other a vampire hunter, and their growing attraction collides with the expectations of their families and the grim rituals of their worlds. Elizabeth Mitchell plays Margot Fairmont, with Aubin Wise as Talia Burns and Will Swenson as Sebastian Fairmont rounding out the principal cast. The engine of the show is the question of what each young woman must do to belong to her side, and each episode presses them closer to the moment they must make their first kill. Set in a contemporary American milieu, the series is built on intimate scenes, emotional chemistry and the tension of a secret romance. Its tone is romantic and tense, with bursts of violence and a moody, teen-drama atmosphere. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Carmilla and The Vampire Diaries will find resonance in its blend of supernatural danger and sapphic longing, and viewers who want a short, emotionally focused binge will find it rewarding even though its story stops on a cliffhanger.
