Audiences find the premise of a hidden chamber leading to an alien world intriguing, but judge the slow delivery and limited answers in the single season as a letdown.

## Synopsis

Night Sky (2022) is an American science fiction drama created by Holden Miller for Prime Video, a single-season limited run of eight episodes that was later canceled. Sissy Spacek plays Irene York and J.K. Simmons plays Franklin York, a retired couple whose quiet suburban routine hides a secret: a chamber buried in their backyard that opens onto a strange, deserted alien planet. The engine of the story is their attempt to understand what the chamber really is after an enigmatic young man, played by Adam Bartley as Byron, arrives and upends their existence. Supporting roles include Cass Buggé as Jeanine Albemarle and Chai Hansen as Jude, with the mystery unfolding across episodes that dwell on atmosphere, unease and unanswered questions. The series is contemplative and eerie rather than action driven, with a slow, deliberate rhythm and a tone that mixes domestic melancholy with uncanny wonder. Its premise of a portal to another world recalls the mystery-box appeal of Stargate SG-1 and the brooding speculative pull of Dark. Fans of quiet, puzzle-driven science fiction will find its patient, unresolved mystery engaging, though viewers wanting faster revelations may find its deliberate pacing demanding.
