## Synopsis

Kageki Shojo!! (2021) is a Japanese animated slice of life series produced by PINE JAM and Quaras and broadcast on AT-X, adapted in the shojo tradition of girls school stories. The series follows Sarasa Watanabe (voiced by Sayaka Senbongi), a starry-eyed student who stands out at 5'10" and dreams of performing male lead roles in the all-female Kouka Acting Troupe. Her new roommate Ai Narata (Yumiri Hanamori), a former idol, becomes both friend and rival as the two push toward a stage role of a lifetime. Across its thirteen episodes the engine is practical and emotional: rehearsals, casting disputes, costume fittings, and the strict hierarchy of a theatre boarding school test whether ambition can survive the demands of the stage. Sawa Sugimoto (Sumire Uesaka) and Kaoru Hoshino (You Taichi) add further rivalries and bonds among the performers. Set in a Taisho era girls academy, the series is warm, earnest, and buoyant, with a comedic lightness that keeps its coming of age drama grounded. Fans of Revue Starlight, Sakura Quest, and Ouran High School Host Club will find resonance in its blend of performance, friendship, and youthful striving.
