## Synopsis

Respect (2020-2021) is a Turkish crime drama series created by Ercan Mehmet Erdem for BluTV. Nejat İşler plays Ercüment Çözer, a sociopath fixated on punishing rudeness and disrespect, whose obsession spreads beyond him when young lovers Helen (Miray Daner) and Savaş (Boran Kuzum), newly out in the adult world, are mistreated by a group of people and become entangled in a chain of murders across Istanbul. Their situation becomes a public struggle between two generations. Turkey's most famous morning show host, Hasret (Rojda Demirer), is assigned to cover the story on television, unaware that she is about to be drawn into the journey on a personal level. Erkan Can and Tansu Biçer also feature in the investigation and its fallout. Running for two seasons and sixteen hour-long episodes, the show is a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its engine is the tension between each character's private code of honor and the consequences of acting on it, while the media machinery amplifies every killing. Set in contemporary Istanbul, the series builds a tense, bleak and morally uneasy atmosphere, with a social reflection that grows as the body count rises. Fans of Dexter, Mr. Robot and Behzat Ç. will find resonance in its portrait of obsession, public spectacle and urban unease.
