## Synopsis

Schoolhouse Rock! (1973-2009) is an American animated educational musical series created for ABC, airing as interstitial shorts during Saturday morning children's programming. Across seven seasons and roughly sixty-five episodes, each three-minute short takes a single subject such as grammar, multiplication, science, economics, history or civics and turns it into a catchy original song with bright hand-drawn animation. Performers including Grady Tate, Essra Mohawk, Lynn Ahrens, Jack Sheldon and Bob Dorough supply the vocals that carry the lessons, while Blossom Dearie appears in a few episodes. There is no continuing plot; each short is self-contained, so viewers can dip in at any point. The engine of every episode is a clear, memorable hook: a concept is broken into simple parts and repeated until it sticks. The tone is cheerful, playful and warmly nostalgic, with a wholesome, optimistic approach to learning that feels like a classic Saturday morning memory. Fans of Sesame Street, The Magic School Bus and Animaniacs will find similar charm in its mix of education, humor and music.
