## Synopsis

Over Christmas (2020) is a German dramedy miniseries created for Netflix, running three 45-minute episodes in a single season. Down-and-out musician Bastian Kollinger is struggling with the blues when he comes home to his family for the holidays, and the trip quickly turns into a run of not-so-cheery surprises. Seyneb Saleh and Cristina do Rego play women drawn into his unsettled return, while Lucas Reiber plays his brother Niklas, Johanna Gastdorf plays their mother Brigitte, and Carmen-Maja Antoni plays Oma Hilde, whose presence keeps the household's old rhythms and tensions close to the surface. Bastian wants a quiet, restorative holiday and keeps running into the people and history he would rather avoid. Each episode moves through family dinners, reunions, and small-town encounters that play out with awkward humor and a touch of melancholy. The mood is wry and warm, with the sting of failed ambitions softened by holiday cheer. The shape is brisk and self-contained, a short festive comedy for viewers who enjoy a dry, character-driven romcom. Fans of Gilmore Girls, Love Actually and Good Bye, Lenin! will find a similar blend of seasonal warmth and wistful comedy.
