## Synopsis

The Houseboat (2021) is a German documentary docuseries created for Netflix, produced by Studio Hamburg and its partners. Across four episodes of roughly 36 minutes each, musicians Fynn Kliemann and Olli Schulz take on a daunting restoration: turning a late singer's houseboat into a creative musical space. Their engine is simple and stubborn, with plenty of passion and little know-how standing in the way of every repair, paint job and rebuild. Each episode follows the crew through the messy practical steps of the project, with the two hosts improvising solutions and calling in friends from the music and media scene. Guest appearances from figures such as Tim Mälzer, Jan Böhmermann, Bjarne Mädel and Moses Schneider add a loose, convivial texture. The tone is warm, self-deprecating and wistful, with an undercurrent of affection for a departed artist and the places he left behind. Viewers who enjoy the relaxed charm of Queer Eye, the hands-on creativity of Fixer Upper, or music-world portraits like Sound City will find a similar kinship here. It is a short, easygoing watch that rewards anyone curious about German music culture and the joy of building something together.
