## Synopsis

Big Brother (2000-present) is an American reality competition series created by John de Mol and broadcast on CBS. A rotating group of houseguests lives together in a sealed house for roughly three months, isolated from the outside world and watched around the clock by cameras with no privacy. Hosted for its entire run by Julie Chen, with a voice-over announcer played by Clayton Halsey, the show is built around weekly rounds in which a head of household nominates players for eviction, a veto can rescue them, and the house votes someone out. Contestants such as Memphis Garrett, Christmas Abbott and Kevin Campbell have become recognizable faces across the many seasons, and the drama comes from shifting alliances, backstabbing, and personal reinvention under pressure. The series runs as a long, daily-stream format of confessionals, nominations and surprise twists, where each season is a fresh cast in the same sealed space. Its tone swings between sly gameplay and raw social friction, with a voyeuristic, claustrophobic edge. Fans of Survivor and The Real World will find a similar appeal in its mix of social strategy, surveillance and reality television spectacle. Season quality has fluctuated widely across its 28 seasons, making it a sprawling, ongoing reality institution.
