## Synopsis

The Uncanny Counter (2020-2023) is a South Korean supernatural action drama created by Kim Sae-bom, Yoo Sun-dong, and Yeoh Gee-na for OCN and tvN, adapted from a Korean webtoon. Cho Byeong-kyu plays So Mun and Yu Jun-sang plays Ga Mo-tak, two members of a team of gifted demon hunters called Counters who pose as staff of a noodle restaurant while they track down evil spirits terrorizing ordinary people. Kim Se-jeong plays Do Ha-na, and Yeom Hye-ran plays Chu Mae-ok, with their characters' own traumatic pasts shaping every case. The engine is simple and effective: each episode brings a new malevolent spirit, a fight staged with bright, kinetic choreography, and a slow reveal of the backstories tying the team together. Across two seasons and twenty-eight episodes, the show moves from self-contained supernatural cases toward a longer arc about the afterlife and the grim reapers who guard it. Its tone blends playful workplace banter with dark, melancholy undercurrents of grief and abuse. Set in present-day Korea, it sits in the vein of Goblin and Hellbound for viewers who enjoy Korean afterlife mythology, and it will appeal to fans of webtoon adaptations and supernatural action with a warm ensemble heart.
