## Synopsis

A Simple Murder (2020) is an Indian crime thriller series created by Prateek Payodhi and Akhilesh Jaiswal and produced by Jar Pictures for SonyLIV. Failed entrepreneur Manish (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) is buried in personal and professional debts when a case of mistaken identity lands him a contract to kill a young girl, with an advance of five lakh rupees attached. The target is the daughter of an influential politician who has his eyes on a Hoshiarpur ticket, so the job carries political danger as well as criminal risk. Manish's wife Richa (Priya Anand) becomes the emotional center of the story as the couple must decide whether greed will consume them or whether they can recover their lost sense of self worth. The series is a seven-episode limited run of roughly thirty-two-minute episodes, each tightening the pressure on the couple as the chaos escalates. Its tone is tense and morally grey, with dark comic edges and a focus on ordinary people making desperate choices. Set in contemporary Hindi-speaking north India, it has the texture of a grounded crime thriller. Fans of Fargo, Breaking Bad and Sacred Games will find resonance in its blend of crime, ordinary desperation and corrupted ambition.
