## Synopsis

Witchblade (2001-2002) is an American supernatural police drama series created by Ralph Hemecker and broadcast on TNT. Yancy Butler plays New York police detective Sara Pezzini, who searches for justice and is drawn into contact with the Witchblade, an ancient, intelligent living weapon that grants her extraordinary power. Her day job puts her on ordinary cases, investigating street crime alongside partners such as Jake McCartey (David Chokachi) and Danny Woo (Will Yun Lee), while the supernatural artifact pulls her toward a far larger threat. Across its two seasons and twenty-three episodes, the show balances a weekly case-of-the-week rhythm with a slowly tightening conspiracy of organized evil that threatens humanity itself. Adapted from the Top Cow comic book, the series carries the flavor of a comic book adaptation, with a brooding urban atmosphere, violent confrontations, and a tension between grounded procedural work and mythic, otherworldly stakes. Its tone is earnest and gritty, with an intensity that suits fans of superhero stories and crime drama alike. Viewers who enjoy Supergirl, Constantine, and Medium will find a similar blend of police work and supernatural mystery. The show was canceled before its larger arc could be fully resolved.
