## Synopsis

The Surgeon's Cut (2020) is a four-episode British-produced documentary docuseries released on Netflix, produced by BBC Studios Science Unit. Four working surgeons sit down and reflect on their lives, their careers and the reasoning that drives their craft, speaking in their own words about the decisions, doubts and pioneering ideas that shaped their professional journeys. Rather than following a single patient or procedure, the series builds its emotional weight through personal testimony, letting each surgeon describe what drew them to the operating room and what the work demands of body and mind. Its engine is reflection itself: each episode gives one surgeon room to explain how they think about risk, skill and responsibility. The tone is earnest, inspiring and contemplative, with a clean clinical look that keeps attention on the speakers. Viewers who enjoy intimate portrait documentaries in the vein of Chef's Table, or reflective nonfiction about expert professionals, will find a compact and thoughtful companion. The shape is a single short run of four fifty-minute episodes, making it an easy one-sitting watch for anyone curious about medicine as a human and philosophical pursuit.
