## Synopsis

Landscapers (2021) is a British-set true crime dramedy miniseries created by Ed Sinclair for HBO. Olivia Colman plays Susan Edwards and David Thewlis plays Christopher Edwards, an ordinary-seeming couple whose quiet life in Nottingham is upended when two bodies turn up in the back garden of their house. Detectives led by DCI Tony Collier (Daniel Rigby) and DC Emma Lancing (Kate O'Flynn) work to unravel the case, while the couple's lives are told across the years that led up to it. The engine of the series is the gap between mundane domestic routine and the grisly secret it hides, carried by the mismatch between Susan's and Christopher's loyalties and the detectives' slow, methodical digging. Across four episodes, the miniseries blends deadpan dark comedy with a melancholic true crime lens, shaped by a restrained, wry tone. Its atmosphere is cozy-looking yet unsettling, a dark comedy about marriage, deception, and the lies people build around themselves. Fans of The Staircase, Dirty John and Fargo will find resonance in its blend of true crime and black comedy.
