Critics and audiences broadly admired the behind-the-scenes account of making The Godfather, praising its performances and period detail while noting it is more entertaining than it is revelatory.

## Synopsis

The Offer (2022) is an American true-story period drama miniseries created by Michael Tolkin for Paramount+. Miles Teller plays producer Albert S. Al Ruddy, who must push The Godfather through a hostile Paramount studio, while Matthew Goode plays studio head Robert Evans and Dan Fogler plays the young director Francis Ford Coppola. Their engine is simple and relentless: Ruddy wants a faithful adaptation of Mario Puzo's novel, but executives keep demanding cheaper casting and tighter budgets, and the real Mafia takes an interest in the production through Giovanni Ribisi's Joe Colombo. Across ten hour-long episodes, the story unfolds as a single continuous arc, with each episode tracking a new negotiation, a casting fight, or a shooting crisis. The look is period-faithful 1970s Hollywood and New York, with warm film grain and smoky studio offices. The tone blends sharp backstage wit and tension with the anxiety of a gamble that could fail. Fans of Hollywood, Argo, and Entourage will find resonance in its portrait of ambition, excess, and the cost of art made under pressure.
