## Synopsis

Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier Than Real Life! (2021) is a Japanese animated comedy series aired on AT-X, a light novel adaptation in the vrmmo and isekai-adjacent tradition. Dull high school student Hiro Yuuki (voiced by Daiki Yamashita) obtains Kiwame Quest, a full dive role-playing game built to take reality to its extremes, with wind on the skin, lifelike scents and convincing non-player characters. The engine of the show is that the game is too realistic and too messy to clear: it contains more flags than anyone could count, it mirrors each player's real physical abilities, and a blow taken in the game hurts in the real body. Reona Kisaragi (Ayana Taketatsu) and other principal characters, including Alicia (Fairouz Ai), appear among the players navigating its punishing quests. The single season runs twelve episodes of roughly twenty-four minutes each, with each episode built around a new trial, a new injury and a new lesson in endurance. Set in a near-present Japan with a fantasy game world at its center, it plays with the deadpan frustration of grinding and the absurd cost of realism. Fans of Sword Art Online, KonoSuba and Log Horizon will find resonance in its game world satire and its gamer protagonist.
