## Synopsis

The Jim Henson Hour (1989-1993) is an American family variety anthology created by Jim Henson for NBC. Hosted by Henson himself, the hour-long program is built from two segments. The first, MuppeTelevision, is a stage of sketch comedy and musical numbers performed by Henson with Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Kevin Clash, Fran Brill and Jerry Nelson, along with frequent guest entertainers who drop in for the fun. The second segment often rebroadcasts original productions, most notably The StoryTeller, an archival folklore anthology in which John Hurt narrates fairy tale style stories with puppet characters. The result is a single season of twelve episodes that feels like a playful, warm puppet variety hour with an unpredictable mix of silliness, musical turns and gentle social commentary. Its tone is joyful and whimsical, with the puppetry craft at its center and the feel of a live stage revue carried to television. Viewers who enjoy The Muppet Show, Sesame Street or the folk tale charm of The Storyteller will find much to love here. It stands as a nostalgic, one-season curiosity for families and puppet devotees.
