## Synopsis

Iwájú (2024) is a six-episode American animated miniseries created for Disney+ and produced with the Nigerian studio Kugali. Set in a futuristic Nigeria, it follows two childhood friends, the privileged Tola Martins (voiced by Simisola Gbadamosi) and the working-world Tunde Martins (voiced by Dayo Okeniyi), whose lives pull apart as each discovers secrets and dangers hidden in the different worlds they inhabit. Principal voice actors Femi Branch and Siji Soetan round out the cast. Each brisk 22-minute episode builds a single continuing mystery across a gleaming city of towers, markets and wealth gaps, giving the story a clear forward pull. The tone is hopeful and sincere, with a warm coming-of-age heart and a sense of wonder at a technologically ambitious future rooted in Nigerian textiles, architecture and everyday life. Fans of Black Panther, Arcane and The Legend of Korra will find resonance in its afrofuturist worldbuilding, its youthful protagonists and its social commentary on a divided society. Viewers who want a family-friendly animated sci-fi with African roots and a friendship at its center will find this miniseries an accessible, self-contained journey.
