## Synopsis

Cars on the Road (2022) is a Disney+ animated miniseries and short-form spin-off of Pixar's Cars franchise. Owen Wilson voices race car Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy voices his best friend Mater, the two heading east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet up with Mater's sister. Tony Shalhoub voices Luigi and Bonnie Hunt returns as Sally in supporting roles. Each roughly twelve-minute episode is built around a stop along the way, with small mishaps, roadside detours and the easy comedy of two mismatched friends bickering and bonding. The story has the shape of a single nine-episode journey told in brisk installments rather than a dense serial. Its tone is warm, breezy and gently comic, with a family-friendly sense of adventure, and it leans on the affectionate humor and friendship themes of Cars (2006). Fans of Cars, Bluey and Phineas and Ferb will find the same gentle, all-ages charm here. The animation is bright and polished, the pacing quick, and the whole thing is designed for young viewers and the adults watching with them.
