## Synopsis

Taqdeer (2020) is a Bangladeshi crime mystery miniseries produced for hoichoi and created by Syed Ahmed Shawki. Chanchal Chowdhury plays Taqdeer, a freezer van driver whose ordinary job turns sinister when he discovers the unclaimed body of a woman in his truck. Sanjida Preeti plays Afsana, Manoj Kumar Pramanik plays Rana, Shohel Mondol plays Montu, and Partha Barua plays Hitman, each tangled in the dangerous consequences of that discovery. The engine of the story is a driver trying to escape a spiral he cannot control, as every choice pulls him deeper into a dark game of destiny. Told across eight short episodes of roughly twenty-three minutes, the miniseries moves with a taut, propulsive rhythm, with each episode tightening the net around its characters. Its tone is bleak and paranoid, shaded with noir fatalism and a sense that no one can outrun what is coming. Set in a contemporary Bangladeshi city, its gritty urban streets and cramped night-time spaces give the story a claustrophobic edge. Fans of Breaking Bad and Dark will find resonance in its moral grey protagonist and its fatalistic, neo-noir atmosphere, while viewers of Gangs of Wasseypur will recognise its South Asian crime sensibility.
