## Synopsis

Surviving Death (2021) is a US limited series created for Netflix, a six-episode docuseries built from interviews rather than scripted drama. Its principal voices are the people who speak for themselves: orthopedic spine surgeon Mary Neal, psychiatry professor Bruce Greyson, neuropsychiatrist Peter Fenwick of the University of Cambridge, and clinical social worker Kimberly Clark Sharp, alongside survivors such as Pam Reynolds, whose archived testimony appears alongside the late researcher Raymond Moody's footage. Each episode moves through personal accounts of clinical death, out-of-body perceptions and returns from the brink, then sets them against research into near-death experiences, reincarnation and other paranormal phenomena. The engine is a single question about what awaits us after death, pursued through the careful weighing of testimony against scientific skepticism rather than through any narrative twist. The format is an expert-led docuseries with a sober, contemplative register, sitting somewhere between a questioning investigation and a meditation on mortality. Viewers drawn to the Afterlife documentary tradition of The Afterlife Investigation, the paranormal inquiry of Ancient Aliens, and the investigative testimony style of Ghost Adventures will find a similar appetite for evidence, human stories and open-ended speculation.
