## Synopsis

The Cook of Castamar (2021) is a Spanish period romance miniseries created by Tatiana Rodríguez and broadcast on Atresplayer, a single season of twelve roughly fifty-minute episodes. Set in early eighteenth-century Madrid, the story follows Clara Belmonte (Michelle Jenner), an agoraphobic cook whose fear of the street confines her to the kitchen, and Diego de Castamar (Roberto Enríquez), a widowed nobleman whose household she enters. Their bond grows against the rigid social hierarchy of the aristocracy, with rival suitors and family intrigue pressing in from every side. Supporting performances from Hugo Silva as Enrique de Arcona, Maxi Iglesias as Francisco Marlango, and María Hervás as Amelia Castro add rivalry and scheming to the household drama. Each episode moves through dinner tables, private conversations, and courtly maneuvering, building a serialized story of longing and revenge. The tone is sensual and melancholic, with a wistful, romantic undercurrent. Viewers who enjoy Bridgerton and Gran Hotel will find a similar blend of class tension, polished costume detail, and romance across social lines.
