## Synopsis

Irma Vep is a limited HBO miniseries created by Olivier Assayas, a prestige drama with a dry comic edge. Alicia Vikander plays Mira Harberg, a Hollywood movie star weary of her career and reeling from a breakup, who travels to France to play the title role in a modern remake of the silent crime serial Les Vampires. Vincent Macaigne plays René Vidal, the volatile director steering the troubled production, while a tangle of crew members and collaborators bring their own personal pressures onto the set. The engine of the story is Mira's struggle as the boundaries between herself and the character she is playing begin to dissolve. Rehearsals, tense meetings, and the quiet friction of a production that keeps threatening to fall apart give the series its rhythm. Set in present-day Paris, the show unfolds with a melancholy, sophisticated tone, its atmosphere shaped by European art house pacing and a fascination with the artifice of cinema. Its drift and abstraction reward patient viewers, who will find resonance in its blurred identities and psychological unease, while its sardonic industry satire keeps the backstage chaos sharp and human.
